Employment Contract, Non-Compete Agreement and Severance Agreements
Sigman & Sigman, P.A., Attorneys at Law

Florida Employment Contracts, Non-Compete Agreements and Severance Agreements are often written in a manner which severely limit an employees rights.  Employers typically direct their  lawyers to draft employment agreements, non-compete agreements and severance agreements to protect the employer's own specific interests. While in many cases, an employee does not have the same type of legal representation or bargaining-power regarding their legal rights and the important documents that they are required to sign as a condition of employment.  An employee cannot rely upon their employer's attorney to represent their individual interests.  If you have been provided any contract to sign by your employer, have it reviewed by an employment law attorney.

Too often, we meet with individuals who have already signed unfair or oppressive employment agreements or we determine that the employment agreement, already signed,  has "loop hole" or back-door clauses that take away the employment protections which the employee thought were in the agreement.

Many executives, professionals, and other employees are able to negotiate fair and even favorable employment agreements and severance agreements with their employers.  The employee can have the document prepared or edited by his or her own attorney, and bargain with the employer to attain an agreement that is protective of the employee.  Often this is a matter of bargaining-power and the employer's desire to obtain an agreement with the employee.  At Sigman & Sigman P.A. we are very familiar with the employment contract issues and we can draft, edit and advise employees regarding employment contracts, severance contracts and other employment-related agreements.

Before signing any Florida Employment Contracts, Non-Compete Agreements or Severance Agreements, Sigman & Sigman, Attorneys at Law recommends that employees contact an attorney of their choice to review the documents and ensure that the employee understands the documents and the ramifications of signing the documents.
