Generally, an employee who meets all of the eligibility criteria under Florida Law is entitled to Unemployment Compensation if he/she is involuntarily terminated from his/her employment. However, in certain circumstances, such as when an employees quits the job voluntarily or is fired for "misconduct" (as defined by Florida's Unemployment Compensation law), then he or she can be denied unemployment compensation benefits. Sometimes, an employer will contest a former employee's application for benefits by claiming that an employee simply quit the job when, in reality, the employee was terminated from the job. Employees are entitled to hearings and due process in the Unemployment Compensation process.
